Exactly one year ago today (Feb 7), I retired from 31 years in the data storage industry. Since I was a teenager growing up in the Southwest desert of Idaho, I've wanted to spend time in the mountains hiking, backpacking, and exploring with an ATV. While raising a family and making a living didn't allow much time for hiking and backpacking, we did load up our ATV and spend a lot of time weekend camping in a fifth wheel in the mountains of Idaho. Eventually, life's journey brought us to Colorado where we have spent the last 15 years looking out over the Front Range.
As you can bet, there are plenty of places to hike and backpack up in those mountains. Since Thanksgiving 2013, I have taken 65 hikes of various flavors, lengths, terrain, and locale. In those 65 hikes I have taken a lot of pictures, which I have shared with my family. My folks have asked for me to provide a bit more color and narrative to the pictures, so my intention in this journal is to document my various travels in a way that they and the rest of my family might find interesting and enjoy. If it turns out that other people see this, I hope you enjoy too!
Disclaimer: I am not much of a creative writer, so bear with me, I will try to do my best to keep it somewhat entertaining.
