I've not been out on the trail for two weeks! Spring storms and being down with something kept me home. There were some storms mid-week last week, but I hoped that with the good weather of the last few days, the Beaver Brook Trail would be workable. I'ld been by the southern faces of Lookout Mountain yesterday and all was mostly clear, so I had some hope. Unfortunately the northern faces on which Beaver Brook traverses were another matter. All started easy enough, but about 1 mile in I ran into this, so I decided to turn back before I fell off the mountain.

Turn around, "challenging" trail condition |
I have not had to be this careful since my Seven Lakes abort last June. For probably about three-fourths of a mile I had been having to carefully place each foot, weight test it, then set the hiking pole, determine the place set for the next step, then make the step. Even then I slipped more than I would have liked. I believe this will be a great trail to tackle in about a month or so. I was disappointed, but decided I didn't need to fall off the mountain and have somebody come rescue me.
Here are a couple more pictures ...
